TEHRAN, May 07 (MNA) – Mohammad Mehdi Rahmati, managing director of Mehr Media Group on Monday welcomed the participation of publications from the impoverished Yemen at the 35th Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF).

"The book fair creates an irreplaceable opportunity for different opinions and ideas to get around across Iran and we can introduce our national potential and capabilities to other nations in the world," Rahmati said commenting on the 35th Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF), which is slated to held between May 8th to May 18th.

The Mehr Media Group managing director further said that the TIBF helps to create a right image of Iran.

He highlighted that "As the Tehran Book Fair is warmly welcomed every year, it shows the importance and value of this great national and international event."

Regarding recently picking Yemen as a special guest of the TIBF, Rahmati said that, "No doubt that the publishing activities in Yemen, which has been facing war and under blockade for about 10 years, has squeezed considerably."

He added that the challenges of war and foreign economic pressures have caused damage to the Yemeni society and people. "However, they have not left publishing aside. In my opinion, the presence of Yemen in the Tehran International Book Fair is great news. Yemeni writers and publishers prove that books are important to them by attending the Tehran book fair."

Sixty foreign publishers will take part in TIBF this year.
