TEHRAN, Oct. 15 (MNA) – The Iranian grandmaster Parham Maghsoodloo beat his rival from Kazakhstan in the 2023 Qatar Masters Open underway in Doha, Qatar.

Maghsoodloo, with a rating of 2707, defeated his opponent from Kazakhstan Alisher Suleymenov, with a rating of 2512, in the fourth round of the competition.

Earlier, the Iranian chess player beat his prominent chess player from Germany Raphael Lagunow and Kazakhstan’s Suleymenov succeeded in defeating 5-time world champion Magnus Carlsen in the sporting event.

Magnus Carlsen, the world's number one chess player, Nakamura and Anish Giri are among the most famous chess players in the competition.

The Qatar Masters 2023 is a 9-round Swiss, underway in Doha, Qatar from October 11-20.
