TEHRAN, Jun. 28 (MNA) – A large crowd of Muslims gathered in the Iraqi holy city of Karbala to participate in the Day of Arafah ceremony.

The Day of Arafah is an Islamic holiday that falls on the 9th day of Dhu al-Hijjah of the lunar Islamic Calendar.

It is the second day of the Hajj pilgrimage and is followed by the holiday of Eid al-Adha.

Eid al-Adha is also known as a festival of sacrifice in honor of the willingness of the Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God's command.
