TEHRAN, Nov. 24 (MNA) – Iran is currently recovering 28 million cubic meters per day of natural gas from Phase 14 of the giant South Pars Gas Field in the Persian Gulf, a senior official said.

According to Mohammad Meshkinfam, CEO of Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC), installation of Platform C of the phase is now complete and production of sour gas from its offshore reserve has begun.

Noting that Phase 14 is currently producing one billion cubic feet (28 million cubic meters) of gas per day through its two operational platforms, he added that the phase is aimed at producing 56 million cubic meters per day of gas, 400 tons of sulfur, 2,800 tons of propane, 80,000 barrels of condensates and 2,550 tons of petrochemical feedstock, once fully operational.

Pointing to POGC’s other projects, the official said phases 13, 14 and 22-24 are envisaged to add a total of 3 billion cubic feet (85 million cubic meters) per day of gas to the giant reservoir’s output.

According to him, two platforms belonging to phase 13 have been loaded from the yard of SADRA Company, adding drilling operations for the two platforms were almost finished.

Meshkinfam said “a platform has been installed at Phase 22 and another platform will be installed within a month to bring production from the phase to 500 mcm/d.

Drilling operations in phase 24 have also been completed and the phase’s new platform is being prepared for loading at the yard of SADRA Company.

Currently, Iran is producing a total of 580 mcm/d of sour gas from different phases of the joint South Pars gas field in Persian Gulf waters. Iran’s production capacity from the field stands at 600 mcm/d.
