Former Brazilian President and current Chairman of the Commission on Foreign Relations and National Defense in the Senate of Brazil Fernando Collor de Mello made the remark during his meeting with Iranian Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Farhad Dezhpasand late on Mon. and called for enhancing and promoting relationship between the two countries in various fields of trade, business, economy, banking, agriculture, transport, medical equipment and environment.
Islamic Republic of Iran is Brazil’s fifth-largest trade partner in trading agricultural produce, he maintained.
He went on to say that Brazil enjoys high capacities and potentials for promoting relationship with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In this meeting, the two sides agreed to hold a joint commission for broadening economic cooperation between Iran and Brazil.
With the coordination made in this regard, this Commission will be held in last month of the current year (to end March 20, 2019).
Dezhpasand placed special emphasis on the necessity of deepening bilateral economic ties and added, “expansion of level of exports is a symbol of deepening economic ties and this issue will be materialized when the current exports volume is met with significant growth in bilateral trade.”
While emphasizing the need for holding regular meetings of the Joint Commission between the two countries, he said, “this meeting will open a new chapter ahead of the two countries for broadening their trade and economic ties.”
Chairman of Iran and Brazil Parliamentary Friendship Group also announced that Brazil exported more than $2 billion worth of products to the Islamic Republic of Iran in 2017.
