TEHRAN, Nov. 06 (MNA) – Latest statistics of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) showed that about $266 million worth of cell phones have been imported into the country during the first seven months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21 – Oct. 21), showing a considerable 43 percent growth as compared to the same period last year.

The mobile market faced significant development after the implementation of ‘Iran's National Mobile Registry Scheme’ in such a way that growing trend of smuggling of mobile phones remarkably decreased in the country , IRICA added.

Import of cell phones into the country in the same period accounted for 1.01 percent of country’s total import value.  

IRICA put the cellular handset imported into the country in the seven months of the past year (March 21 – Oct. 20, 2017) at $185.445 million, accounting for 0.63 percent of country’s total imports value.

Therefore, import of cellular handset into the country in the first seven months of the current year registered a significant 43.42 percent hike as compared to the last year’s corresponding period.
