TEHRAN, Jul. 30 (MNA) – Mineral products, valued at $2.839 billion, were exported from Iran in the first three months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-June 21), showing a considerable 16 percent growth as compared to the same period of last year.

Statistics of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) show that 15,320,030 tons of minerals were exported from the country in the same period, registering a significant 12 percent decline as compared to the last year’s corresponding period.

Steel and steel products got the lion’s export share in the same period, the rate of which hit more than $1.342 billion, indicating a considerable 63 percent growth as compared to the same period of last year.

In the same period, export value of steel and steel products accounted for 50% total export share of mining and mineral industries in the country.

The maximum drop in value is related to the export of various types of product including ceramics, brick and tiles that showed a significant 99 percent decline as compared to the same period of last year.

Given the above issue, 1,095,594 tons of minerals, valued at $871 million, were imported into the country, showing a considerable 28 percent decrease as compared to the same period of last year.

Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) put export value of mining and mineral industries in the 11 months of the last year (March 21, 2017 to Feb. 2018) at about $8.4 billion.
