TEHRAN, Jul. 10 (MNA) – Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Bahram Ghasemi, said that Ali Akbar Velayati will leave Tehran for Moscow on Wednesday to deliver the message of the Leader and President Rouhani to Russian President Putin.

“Mr. Velayti will convey the message of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and Mr. President to Russian President Vladimir Putin,” said the Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Bahram Ghasemi, describing the Wednesday visit of Velayati to Moscow as an important event to happen.

He made the remarks touching upon the upcoming visit of Leader's senior adviser Ali Akbar Velayati to Moscow on Wednesday, describing the visit as an important event.

The Iranian diplomat then referred to what Iran did in explaining Iran’s position after US unilateral withdrawal from the nuclear agreement and added, “after Mr. Trump’s strategic mistake in unilaterally withdrawing from a multilateral nuclear treaty like the JCPOA, the Islamic Republic of Iran decided to send special envoys to different countries conveying the message of high authorities of Iran containing our stances, positions, and approaches towards this arrogant and illegal move of US.”

“The visit of Mr. Velayati is in line with this trajectory and has its own specific values,” said Ghasemi.

“Mr. Velayati is slated to visit Moscow and Beijing and in his tomorrow visit to Moscow he will head a delegation of officials from the foreign ministry,” he added.

“The visit is very important as Russia is a permanent member of the UN Security Council and played a big role along other countries in the course of nuclear negotiations before brokering the JCPOA,” he added.

“Moscow and Tehran have many commonalities and shared interests in regional and international areas and that makes the meeting of Mr. Velayti and Mr. Putin in Kremlin all the more important,” he stressed.

“Besides the meeting with Mr. Putin, Mr. Velayti will have other meetings focused on areas of bilateral political and economic relations and the most recent regional and international developments,” he added.
