TEHRAN, Jun. 23 (MNA) – Head of Iran’s Foreign Policy Strategic Council Kamal Kharrazi says that despite the risk of US administration pressures, there are still ways for Europe to circumvent the unilateral sanctions against Iran.

The European countries need to find formulas to preserve the JCPOA, otherwise “there is no justification for Iran to remain in the nuclear deal,” Kamal Kharrazi warned in an interview with Spanish EFE Agencia while on a visit to the southern European countries.

Kharrazi further warned that the JCPOA collapse would have dangerous consequences for the security in the Middle East.

He stressed that Europe needs to protect its firms that want to invest in Iran’s market against the US sanctions, adding that the continued talks were aimed at gaining necessary guarantees from the European countries.

The former Iranian foreign minister, who is also an adviser to Iran’s Leader, noted "only Europe’s economic interests will not be in danger, but more importantly, its security interests will be at risk."

He warned the US government that Iran has been able find ways to survive US sanctions since the establishment of the Islamic Republic.

In a question with regard to North Korean leader meeting with the US president, Kharrazi said that the future of the talks are not clear yet, criticizing Trump's irrational policies.

Kamal Kharrazi arrived in Italy in the middle of the week and has held meeting with Italian and Spanish foreign ministers as well as Vatican prime minister during his stay in southern Europe so far.
