TEHRAN, Apr. 23 (MNA) – Managing Director of Iranian Gas Transmission Company (IGTC) Saeed Tavakkoli said that daily gas transmission capacity will hit over one billion cubic meters in 2025.

He put the annual gas production capacity at 400 billion cubic meters in the same period.

Turning to the gas transmission volume in the past Iranian calendar year in 1396 (ended March 20, 2018), he said, “statistics show that 226 billion cubic meter gas was transmitted in nationwide gas pipeline network from March 21, 2017 to Feb. 22, 2018).”

Given the above issue, the said gas transmission figure should hit 1.16 billion cubic meter per day by 2025, he maintained.

The official went on to say that increasing production capacity of gas transmission is the other objectives of the company, adding, “according to Iran 2025 Outlook Plan, the gas transmission capacity in the said period will increase 400 billion cubic meters per annum although this figure can be more or less, depending on the type of operation and array of gas transmission network.”

Exporting gas to Baghdad will be continued, he said and put the total export gas to Baghdad in some days at 14 million cubic meters but about 8 to 9 million cubic meter gas will be exported to Baghdad per day.

Since Baghdad Power Plant is the main recipient of Iranian gas, more Iranian gas volume will be exported to this neighboring country if demanded, he maintained.

To conclude his remarks, Managing Director of Iranian Gas Transmission Company Saeed Tavakkoli said, “as it had been already announced, National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) has prepared the gas volume as required in Basra Power Plant, so that the gas will be exported to Iraq if needed.”
