TEHRAN, Apr. 14 (MNA) – In a telephone contact with his German counterpart, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif slammed US military attack on Syria and said, “waging military action by any country under the pretext of using chemical weapons is dangerous for the regional peace and security.”

While congratulating the appointment of Mr. Heiko Maas as German Foreign Minister, Zarif wished him further success in the new position.

The two foreign ministers exchanged their views on the implementation of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the official title of nuclear deal, as well as regional and international issues.

Iran’s Zarif pointed to the necessity of implementation of commitments by all parties involved in the talks and called on European countries to persuade US to live up to its commitments within the framework of rules and regulations.

The two sides also conferred on Iran’s deterrent and defensive missile program as well as regional issues.

Iranian foreign minister pointed to the US wrong policies of dispatching various types of weapons to the region, supporting measures against impoverished Yemeni people and also sponsoring terrorists in the region and said, “US policies taken in this regard can exacerbate insecurity and instability in the region to a great extent.”

Recent developments in Syria was the other main topic of discussion by the foreign ministers of Iran and Germany, based on which, the two sides emphasized on finding a solution to end almost a decade-long crisis in Syria.

In conclusion, Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif once again condemned any use of chemical weapon by US and its allies in Syria and called on the international community to take effective steps in this respect seriously.
