TEHRAN, Dec. 12 (MNA) – Parliament Speaker Special Aide on International Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian congratulated the Iraqi nation on their victory against ISIL in a meeting with Iraqi ambassador to Iran.

Pointing to the 'privileged' relations between Iran and Iraq, Amir-Abdollahian praised the victory of the armed forces, government, people and the religious authority of Iraq against terrorism, and expressed his gratitude for the valuable efforts and hospitability of the Iraqi government and people during Arbaeen ceremony.

With regard to recent developments in Palestine and the US President statement announcing al-Quds Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, Amir-Abdollahian emphasizedon the unity unity of the Muslim world saying "the US president’s decision is invalid, and al-Quds Is an integral part of Palestine, and the identity of al-Quds and Al-Aqsa Mosque will not change with such actions.”

Rajah Saber Aboud Al-Musawi, ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Iran, for his part, expressed his gratitude for the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran in fighting the Takfiri terrorist groups in Iraq, saying "in the current complicated situation in the region the special relations between Iran and Iraq become even more important."

He added that the religious and cultural commonalities between Iran and Iraq have contributed to the strengthening of the strategic ties between the two countries.

Referring to Arbaeen pilgrimage, the Iraqi ambassador stressed on more cooperation on behalf of Iraq.
