TEHRAN, Nov. 21 (MNA) –Kamalvandi, the Spokesman of the AEOI said at Iran-EU’s seminar on progress and prospects in civil nuclear cooperation that AEOI has made fit predictions to encounter US vendetta against Iran’s atomic energy enterprise.

“US congress moves are meticulously monitored by the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) and the AEOI devises the necessary predictions according to its responsibilities,” said Behrouz Kamalvandi, the Spokesman of the AEOI, who also serves as the Deputy Head of the AEOI for International, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs.

The Iranian official made the remark on Tuesday in Isfahan while addressing the Second High Level Seminar on International Nuclear Cooperation: Progress and Prospect.

The two day event of Isfahan, underway at opulent Hotel Abbasi’s hall of mirrors, is co-chaired by Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, and Helga Schmid, Deputy to the EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini. Kicked off on Tuesday, the seminar will wrap up on Wednesday.

“Today and tomorrow we will go through nuclear safety, IAEA safeguards, security issues, stable isotopes, nuclear medicine, and the other issues which were discussed in the first seminar to outline the future areas of cooperation,” Mr. Kamalvandi was referring to the first seminar held in early 2017 in Brussels.

The EU and Iran held a high-level seminar on 'International Nuclear Cooperation: Expectations and Responsibilities' in Brussels on February 28, and March 1, 2017.

He highlighted that since the first seminar was held, “great results” have been achieved and “good cooperation” has been brokered in four or five areas.

“As you witnessed in the speeches delivered today you can easily figure out that all the guests of today seminar stressed on protecting and keeping the JCPOA,” he pointed to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action signed on July 14, 2015 between Iran, EU, and 5+1 group of countries in Vienna. It is mostly known as Iran nuclear deal or agreement.

“The speech givers of today relayed explicitly and implicitly the same message to the new US administration that US new policies are not going to yield a good result,” he asserted.

He held that the new policies would push US into isolation and articulated that “while the International Atomic Energy Organization has verified and attested Iran’s abidance by the nuclear deal 9 times so far, Iran’s perseverance in complying with the deal is hinged upon other sides’ compliance.”

“This message should be fully comprehended that we are currently enjoying a good status in the region and it is highly unexpected to see US unilateral policies get anywhere as the world of today is a world of multilateralism and US cannot impose its will upon the others,” he affirmed.

“The meeting of today also which featured participants from EU, China, and Russia had a good implication that cooperation within the framework of JCPOA is on and the other signatory of the deal should act more wisely,” Mr. Kamalvandi stated.

The EU delegation at Isfahan seminar is comprised of Stavros Lambrinidis, the European Union's Special Representative for Human Rights, Director General for International Cooperation and Development Stefano Manservisi, and Director-General for Energy Dominique Ristori.

Isfahan gathering is a follow-up to the first seminar which was the result of a joint initiative of the European Commissioner for Energy and Climate Action Miguel Arias Cañete and Iranian Vice-President Ali Akbar Salehi. The seminar represented an important element of the growing cooperation between Iran and the EU, following Implementation Day of the JCPOA.
