TEHRAN, Nov. 09 (MNA) – Mexican Senator Teófilo Torres Corzo stressed Iran’s key part in preservation of regional and global stability and called for further cooperation between the two countries.

Teófilo Torres Corzo, Chairman of the Mexican Senate's Foreign Affairs Committee for Asia Pacific, held talks with Iran’s Ambassador to Mexico City Mohammad Taghi Hosseini on Wednesday, during which he voiced Mexican Senate’s readiness to welcome any measures aimed at developing ties with the Islamic Republic. 

Corzo thanked Iran’s support for the selection of Mexican Senator Gabriela Cuevas Barron as the president of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and described his country’s relations with Iran as friendly and expanding. 

The Mexican senator further voiced his country’s strong support for multilateralism and dialog as a way to settle international disputes. 

Hosseini, for his part, hailed the two countries’ cooperation in international organizations, particularly with respect to nuclear disarmament and creation of a safer world as Iran and Mexico’s aspiration.

Meanwhile, a seminar on the 150th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Iran and Mexico will be held at the Mexican Senate building in cooperation with Iran’s embassy in Mexico City.
