TEHRAN, Nov. 06 (MNA) – National Iranian sabre fencing team secured two wins and two defeats to finish in the fourth place overall at FIE Sare World Cup in Algeria.

The Algiers Men’s Senior Sabre World Cup was competed on November 4-5 with Mojtaba Abedini, Ali Pakdaman, Mohammad Rahbari and Mohammad Fotouhi representing Iran in the sportive event.

The Iranian team, in its first move, pulled a 45-25 victory over Canadian rivals and advanced to the quarterfinals.

Persian sabre fencers later defeated Russia’s national outfit 45-37 and secured a place in the semifinals where they suffered a loss in the face of Germany (34-45) to miss the finals.

Iran was also unsuccessful in the bronze-medal match against Algerian opponents and only managed to occupy the fourth positions in the competitions.
