WKF President Antonio Espinós, on Monday, awarded Iran’s Javad Salimi a position at the international body’s Referee Commission for Iran to regain the influential membership following 47 years.
Following appointment of Iran’s Masoud Rahnama to the Technical Commission, the new seat given to Salimi at the Referee Commission of WKF holds great significance for Iran as an outstanding power in the sportive field.
The Referees are a fundamental part of Karate as a sport. The supervision of the different actions, of the quality of the performance, of the fair play and of the strict compliance with the Rules make possible that the discipline stays aligned with the competition scenario defined beforehand.
The Referee Commission, in addition to five board directors, comprises 14 members. Escalante of Sweden is the current Chairman while Norway’s Hamara serves as the Secretary to the Commission. Puveland of France and Madani of the US are Assistant Secretaries while the Counselor is Lowinger from Germany.
Apart from Javad Salimi, other members include S. Al Mansour (Kuwait), H. Arenas (Argentina), C. Baxter (USA), U. Kobas (Turkey), P. Lim (Malaysia), Z. Metyout (Morocco), M. Mohey (Egypt), R. Ortega (France), D. Panossian (Australia), C. San Chan (Macau), K. Takahashi (Japan), J.A. Velasco (Spain) as well as A. Wiesböck (Austria).
In a letter of President of Iranian Karate Federation Mohammad Sadegh Faraji on Monday, WKF President Espinós announced membership of Salimi and wished him success and triumph in his new position.
