TEHRAN, Aug. 05 (MNA) – President Hassan Rouhani said development of economic relations between Iran and South Korea was essential.

The Iranian President made the remarks at a joint meeting on Saturday with Speaker of National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, ‎Chung Sye-kyun.

Rouhani said projects worth 200 billion dollars were awaiting investment in Iran’s oil, gas and petrochemical sectors; “investors and the private sector of South Korea can participate in implementation of these projects.”

While stressing importance and vitality of security and stability in Asia, especially in the East Asian region, said the official noting that in today's world, all countries should resolve disagreements through diplomatic dialogue and resolution.

The president said the Islamic Republic of Iran would never hesitate to take any measures to develop and strengthen security and stability in Asia.

Rouhani underscored that the new Iranian government would support development of relations and alliances between Iran and South Korea saying “Iran is ready to expand bilateral relations with South Korea in various fields like new technologies, industrial cooperation, transportation and participate in various projects including the rail sector.”

Hassan Rouhani described development of banking relations as a basis for expansion of economic ties between the two countries and said “good progress has been made in the area of ​​banking cooperation between the two countries, which should be improved to desirable outcomes through joint efforts of the two sides.”

‎Chung Sye-kyun, for his part, congratulated Iran’s Rouhani on his reelection and described his role in international affairs as well as in development of bilateral relations between Iran and South Korea in the last four years as very important.

Speaker of National Assembly of the Republic of Korea noted that previously-signed agreements would ensure development of cooperation and collaboration between the two sides; “the South Korean parliament supports the joint statement issued by the two countries’ presidents and backs expansion of all-inclusive relations between Tehran and Seoul,” he underlined.

He also called for the participation of Korea’s private sector companies in Iran's investment projects and the development of bilateral relations in various sectors, including new technologies, environment, IT and banking relations.

Sye-kyun later emphasized that peace and security and resolution of conflicts can only be achieved through dialogue in the world.
