TEHRAN, Feb. 22 (MNA) – Head of Iran’s SNSC Ali Shamkhani underlined that blackmailing through terrorism is a habit of Zionist regime and Saudi Arabia.

Shamkhani made the remarks in a meeting with Speaker of the People's Council of Syria Hadiya Khalaf Abbas on sidelines of the 6th International Conference on Palestine Intifada in Tehran on Wednesday.

“Astana meeting, focusing on political initiatives, provided proper grounds for perpetuation of ceasefire and replacing war with dialogue,” said Shamkhani noting the positive process of political talks between Syrian government and opposition groups and added “Astana meeting is not mere change of talks geography but the result of developments in regional equations and achievements reached in battle field as well as liberation of terrorists-held districts of Aleppo.”

Head of Supreme National Security Council underlined the grave differences between opposition groups in Syria emphasizing that “their supporting countries, as well, have contradictions and try to use armed terrorists as a means to exit the conflict in Syria and push the rivals toward the war.”

Shamkhani further highlighted Iran’s role in fight against terrorism and said that blackmailing through terrorism is a habit of Zionist regime and Saudi Arabia, noting recent remarks by some officials of Saudi Arabia and Zionist regime; “today, the greatest backers of terrorism speak of Iran as a threat to global peace and security unanimously while it’s their great support for Takfiri terrorism threats world’s security in an unprecedented manner.”

He also condemned Saudi Arabia’s policies in supporting terrorism and Zionism’s opportunist approach amid region’s tensions, underling that the final victory would be for resistance.

Khalaf Abbas, for her part, expressed gratitude to Iran on humanitarian and advisory aid to Syria and said Syria is paying the price of Palestine yet is consistent on his path.

“Zionist regime backs terrorist groups in Syria logistically and militarily, which indicates the strong tie between Israeli regime, Takfiri terrorism and their supporters to destabilize the region.
