Delegations of Iran and Russia attending the second round of international Syrian talks in the Kazakh capital Astana met Tuesday afternoon as headed by Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs, Hossein Jaberi Ansari, and Vladimir Putin's special envoy for Syria, Alexander Lavrentyev.
During the meeting, the two sides conferred on the latest developments in Syria, arrangements for implementation of the current ceasefire in the Arab country, and follow-up measures in regard to the process of Astana talks.
Jaberi Ansari also held talks with Bashar Jaafari, Syria’s Ambassador to the United Nations and head of the Syrian delegation in the Astana talks, Tuesday night.
During the meeting with representatives of both delegations in attendance, the two sides exchanged views on the latest developments on Astana talks process and the agenda for the second round of the international meeting aimed at finding a political solution for the Syrian crisis.
The first round of Astana talks on Syrian settlement was held in the Kazakh capital on 23-24 February 2017 with participation of delegations of Iran, Russia, and Turkey as observers and representatives of Syrian government and a number of armed opposition group.
