TEHRAN, Feb. 07 (MNA) – Iran’s young cyclist Amirhossein Jamshidian managed to secure a gold medal on second day of Asian Track Cycling Championship underway in India.

Competing in the scratch event at IGI Sports Complex of New Delhi, Iran’s Jamshidian stood on top of the podium in youth division.

Also in the keirin race, Iran’s senior cycling team, comprising Mohammad Deneshvar and Ali Aliasgari, were led to the second chance group.

Later in the repechage, Daneshvar secured a place in the semifinals while Aliasgari conceded a defeat to rivals and was eliminated from the tournament.

Previously, the Iranian team had bagged a bronze medal in the sprint race held on the first day of the sportive event.

From February 06 to 10, the Cycling Federation of India will host the Saksham Asian Track Cycling Championship which will be in its 37th and 34th editions of the event for senior and youth divisions, respectively.

This will be for the first time that the Asian Track Cycling Championship will be held separately from the Road Championship, Bahrain will be hosting the Road championship in the later part of February 2017.

Eighteen countries, will be participating in these championships. The highly competitive field includes China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Macau China, Malaysia, Mongolia, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Taiwan, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan and India.
