TEHRAN, Feb. 06 (MNA) – Head of Strategic Research Center Ali Akbar Velayati said halt of Trump's immigration order by a federal judge was a wise measure.

Leader's advisor Velayati made the remarks on the sidelines of a meeting in Tehran with the visiting Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General (SRSG) for Iraq Ján Kubiš.

In response to a question on new US sanctions against Iran, the official said since the beginning of the Revolution, American politicians have shown no sign of goodwill towards Iran and have taken all possible adverse measures against the country.

“The reason the Leader constantly stresses the importance of Resistance Economy is for the country’s economy not to be affected by ad hoc and inhuman decisions taken by governments anywhere in the world,” he continued.

On a tweet by Trump about squandered three trillion dollars in Iraq, Velayati reiterated “we would not count on words of a man who speaks in an undisciplined fashion; if the US has spent this amount, hundreds of millions of dollars of damage as well as two destructive wars have been imposed on Iraqis by America.

The official went on to add that Americans, unlike what they claimed, were supporting Saddam; “they bombarded all infrastructures in Iran like roads, bridges though Iraqis enjoyed better living conditions prior to US intervention.”

Ali Akbar Velayati stressed that Americans had not been invited to Iraq asserting “they have merely shown hatred towards Iraqis and they have paid costs of their illegal interference.”

He underscored that it was Iraq who could make claims for damages made by Americans.

Later, the Leader’s senior advisor touched upon the halt of Trump's immigration order by a federal judge saying “an intelligent and sensible American judge, in the face of unreasonable and illogical acts, will take advantage of his judicial independence and cancels the illegal order issued by the president; a measure which would be taken by any wise and experienced judge

The UN envoy, for his part, said in the same line, it remains vital to support activities of the Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi who is now Iraq’s legitimate PM; “he has presented a number of decisive plans which hold great momentous.”

He believed that a democratic process was underway in Iraq adding “several significant elections will be held in the current year in Iraq which will definitely lead to political vitality.”

Ján Kubiš pointed to national reconciliation in Iraq reiterating that “national reconciliation and consensus among different groups and protecting the country's economic and social benefits is very important.”
