Greece’s Alternate Foreign Minister for European Affairs George Katrougalos, who is staying in Iran for the second round of political negotiations between Tehran and Athens, met and talked with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for American and European Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanchi on Sunday.
The two sides at the meeting discussed various bilateral issues as well as exchanging views on regional and international developments.
Iran’s Takht-Ravanchi, while recalling age-old relations between Iran and Greece, stressed that both sides held friendly ties and had serious determination to strengthen and boost political, economic and cultural collaborations.
“Tehran-Athens ties are making progress in line with the roadmap which was endorsed during the previous visit to Iran of Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.
Deputy Iranian foreign minister highlighted that the two countries had excellent economic capacities and the grounds were ready for cooperation in energy sector, shipping, pharmaceutical industries and tourism.
Also at the meeting, Takht-Ravanchi’s Greek counterpart George Katrougalos said his country attached great importance to relations with Iran and was willing to elevate multilateral ties with Tehran.
He further stated that the visit of Greek prime minister to Tehran last year paved the path for bolstering mutual collaboration; “Greece is ready to exploit various venues for reinvigoration of economic cooperation with Iran,” he continued.
