TEHRAN, Oct. 18 (MNA) – Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Iranian Parliament's Director General for International Affairs, said anti-ISIL operations of Iraqi armed forces, headed by Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi would help safeguard global security.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Dutch Ambassador to Iran Susana Trastal on Monday during which he pointed to a major operation launched by Iraqi government and the army against ISIL targets, with the aim of liberating Mosul from terrorists, and said, "Iraqi government, army and nation took action in the fight against terrorists with competence and authority and Mosul's liberation is definite."

He pointed to a growing trend in the political and economic relations between the two countries, and said Iran and the Netherlands enjoy many positive capacities in different political, economic and parliamentary fields.

"Nations of the two countries must take benefit from these opportunities following planning in the field," he noted.

Announcing the formation of Tehran-Hague Parliamentary Friendship Groups in Iran's Parliament, Amir-Abdollahian said the Parliament supports any initiative to develop mutual relations, especially parliamentary ties, between the two countries.

Susana Trastal, for her part, underlined Dutch government and parliament's willing to increase the level of mutual relations, saying, "The Netherlands is the third largest trading partner of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Europe and we are interested in further development of political, economic and trade relations in between.

Expressing deep regret over humanitarian crisis caused by terrorist groups in the region, Trastal said the Dutch government carefully monitors the regional developments and considers terrorist groups as a threat to all countries in the world.

She appreciated the immediate formation of Tehran-Hague Parliamentary Friendship Group in Iranian Parliament and pointing to the imminent visit of Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Dutch Parliament and the accompanying delegation to Tehran, underlined the need for the development of parliamentary, political and economic cooperation between the two countries.
