Mohammad Javad Larijani, who is in Italy to promote dialogue and interaction on human rights and judiciary affairs, made the remarks in the opening ceremony of third round of Iran-Italy human rights talks in Rome on Tuesday.
The Iranian official said Iran has always welcomed human rights cooperation with all countries under the condition that talks with other sides be conducted on mutual respect and free from any imposition.
“The talks between Iran and Italy have entered the third round thanks to absence of unconstructive and politically-motivated issues accompanied by an unbiased and unprejudiced nature,” he continued.
Larijani further reiterated that European countries interested in launching human rights talks with Iran need to bear in mind that the Islamic Republic of Iran would not accept one-sided dialogues or imposition of opinions.
He highlighted that the Iranian delegation introduced the Islam-based and advanced judicial and legal system of Iran; “Italians found out that in Iran any law is based on Islam, modern-life needs as well as wise expediency notwithstanding that each law needs to be approved by the Parliament before becoming executive.”
The model of talks between Iran and Italy can be used as an exemplary model of negotiations for other countries including Islamic nations; “sadly in recent years, Muslims have been humiliated and oppressed as a result of violent wrongdoings of terrorist groups like al-Qaeda and ISIL.”
“Muslim nations should try to show other countries the real image of Islam and Islamic teachings,” underlined Secretary-General of Iran's High Council for Human Rights calling on all Muslims across the world to take a logical approach for providing the world with the real image of Islam.
Also at the meeting, head of Italian Judicial Council welcomed the Iranian delegation pointing to the significance of negotiations between Iran and Italy on human rights; “the European community attaches great importance to the talks between Tehran and Rome.”
Head of the Italian delegation during the second round of talks Professor Cherif Bassiouni, for his part, said that they have now gained a better understanding of Iran’s judicial system and human rights situation.
He went on to add that these kinds of talks can become a good model for negotiation between Iran and other European states.
Presently, the Islamic Republic of Iran holds human right talks with several world countries including Switzerland, Japan, Italy and Austria.
