RIO DE JANEIRO, Sep. 11 (MNA) – National Iranian men’s national 7-a-side football team obtained a victory over American rivals in their second match at 2016 Paralympic Games.

In a Pool B encounter on Saturday at Deodoro Stadium, Iran’s squad played against the US team in the preliminaries and pulled out a 2-nil victory.

Aminollha Amani’s boys scored the first goal early into the match while Hossein Tizbor found the net for Iran in the 60th minute.

Despite offering a better performance in the second half, the American outfit failed to lead the ball into Iran’s goal.

Iran national Cerebral Palsy (CP) football squad also squandered several opportunities which, if seized properly, could have chalked up more goals for the Iranian side.

The Iranian men’s national 7-a-side football team, who had previously defeated Argentina 3-1 in their opening match, is scheduled to take on three-time Paralympic title-winner Netherlands.

Given the two straight victories so far, the Persians have confirmed their advancement to the semifinal round while quelling Dutch rivals will lead the Persians to the top spot in Pool B.

In the other Pool P match, powerhouse Netherlands breezed past the Argentinian 7-a-side team by betting two goals.
