ASTRAKHAN, Jul. 27 (MNA) – Head of Iran-Russia Joint Economic Commission said Tehran and Moscow have prioritized expansion of relations according to the framework stressed by the two countries’ respective presidents.   

Mahmoud Vaezi, who is in Astrakhan as the head of Iran-Russia Joint Economic Commission, noted the frequent visits between President Rouhani and President Putin aimed at further expansion of bilateral ties, adding “so far, important decisions have been made and the two presidents will have another meeting in Baku in 12 days.”

Vaezi was referring to an Iran-Russia-Azerbaijan trilateral meeting which is scheduled to be held in the Azerbaijani capital on August 8. The three sides are slated to exchange views on trilateral cooperation and regional issues.

Vaezi further noted the official inauguration of Tehran-Astrakhan flight path on Tuesday, adding “in the last three years, Iran-Russia’s relations have undergone a profound transformation in political, economic, regional and international sectors.”

The Iranian official stressed his approval for the constructive approach taken by the governor of Astrakhan in improving the relations between the two countries, saying “prior to the forum, we held a meeting during which we made a definite decision to spare no efforts in removing the current obstacles that are challenging the private sectors of both countries.”

Vaezi further noted that the two sides have conferred on solving the visa issues for businessmen and tourists, customs tariff issues, as well as problems regarding banking relations.

“With the efforts put into establishing a shipping line and a direct flight path, I see a very positive future in the two countries’ bilateral relations,” Vaezi said.
