TEHRAN, Jul. 08 (MNA) – All the athletes of Iran’s national cadet team of wrestling won their final matches at the 2016 Asian Cadet Wrestling Championship on Friday in Taichung, Chinese Taipei, bringing 5 gold medals for their country.

Iran’s squad of three Greco-Roman wrestlers, and two freestylers who got their way to the final of their weight categories on day one of Asian Cadet Championship, won over their final rivals on the second day at the 2016 edition of Asian Cadet Wrestling Championship on Friday in Taichung city of Chinese Taipei to bring home five medals of gold for the Asian powerhouse of ancients.

Omid Arami of 42 kg category, Mohammad Mehrabi of 48 kg class, and Mohammad Hosseinvand of 50 kg division who comprised the Greco-Roman squad of Iran’s cadet wrestling team defeated their rivals, respectively, Rohan Prakash of India, Ergashiv from Uzbekistan, and Kotoulbeik from Uzbekistan.

In the 85 kg weight division of men’s freestyle competitions, Seyyed Abolfazl Hashemi, who had defeated his Mongolian, Japanese, and Indian rivals to reach the final, won over another Indian wrestler 6-2 to bag the gold medal of the category.

Another Iranian freestyler, Seyyed Mehdi Hashemi, who had defeated his opponents from India, Mongolia, and Kyrgyzstan to reach the last event of the 100 kg class, won the final contest of the category over Kazakh wrestler and brought home the fifth shining gold medal of the event for his country.
