Mohammad Javad Zarif, Iran’s Foreign Minister, who arrived in the Norwegian capital to attend the two-day Oslo Forum, held talks with his Norwegian counterpart Børge Brende on Monday morning and conferred on bilateral relations including political, economic and banking cooperation.
During the meeting, the two sides also discussed the Syrian crisis and ways to end it. The situation in Iraq and Afghanistan was also raised during the talks.
Zarif is also scheduled to hold talks with the president of Norway's parliament, Olemic Thommessen, as well as the members of Norway’s Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense. Meeting with Kjell Magne Bondevik and Kåre Willoch, Norwegian former prime ministers, as well as attending a seminar on JCPOA (Iran’s nuclear deal) hosted by Iranian embassy in Oslo are also on the agenda of Iranian foreign minister.
Upon arrival in Oslo, Zarif said he will also meet and talk with US Secretary of State John Kerry, who will be attending the Oslo Forum alongside EU Chief Federica Mogherini and Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nation Jan Eliasson, to pursue America’s fulfillment of JCPOA obligations.
Zarif is accompanied by Deputy FM for Legal and International Affairs Abbas Araghchi, Deputy FM for Europe and America Majid Takht-Ravanchi, a number of other deputy foreign ministers as well as Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hossein Jaberi Ansari.
