TEHRAN, Feb. 28 (MNA) – Iran Men’s and Women’s national alish teams will leave for Kyrgyzstan in order to take part in an alysh tournament.

The Kyrgyzstan’s Bayaman Erkinbayev tournament will kick off on March 16 in Kyrgyzstan capital of Bishkek and will come to a close on March 18.

Alysh is a sport like wrestling and judo in which athletes wear a special dress with a wide belt like that worn by judo players; the sport has a 300-year-old history in Iran and it is the most popular one in the provinces of Mazandaran, Gilan, Khuzestan and Semnan.

 

The names of the selected Iranian alish practitioners to take part in the event are as follow:

Women’s team:

55kg: Yeganeh Gharibgashteh & Homa Mirzapour

60kg: Somayeh Heidari

65kg: Seyedeh Shima Naderi & Elham Kuchakzadeh

70kg: Zahra Majdi

75kg: Maliheh Fazli

+75kg: Kazhal Kavehtabar

 

Men’s team:

60kg: Rohollah Nematian

70kg: Mohammad Gholami

80kg: Yaser Mohammadi Rostam

90kg: Davoud Evazzadeh

100kg: Seyed Bahman Ebrahimnia

+100kg: Behnam Hodhodi
