TEHRAN, Jan. 11 (MNA) – Mehr News English Service has published the second edition of ‘Mehr Vision,’ a monthly collection of news reviews and analyses.

The cover story of this edition is dedicated to the 29th International Islamic Unity Conference held in Tehran on Decem­ber 27-29 December, 2015, concurrent with the birthday anniversary of Prophet Mo­hammad (PBUH), dubbed as Islamic Unity Week. The event was attended by more than 600 scholars from Iran and across the world of Islam, with the opening speech delivered by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. Participants later met with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei listening to his thoughtful remarks on the main theme of the confer­ence, “Present Crises of Mus­lim World and Ways to End Them.” This section includes the full coverage of the Leader’s remarks, President Rouhani’s opening speech, the Conference’s final statement and an interview with Lebanese Hezbollah deputy-Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem, who was in Tehran participating in the conference.

The Politics section kicks off with an Op-Ed by the editor-in-chief of MNA English Service on the execution of prominent cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr by Saudi Arabia. Iraqi ambassador to Tehran sat with Mehr News International Service to discuss Iraq’s position in regard to the presence of Turkish militants on Iraqi soil and the fight against ISIL terrorists. Turkey-Russia tension that had been triggered by the downing of the Russian fighter jet by Turkey on 24 Nov. has been thoroughly covered in the next few interviews that follow. Two pieces have also been dedicated to the Nigerian Army’s massacre of Shia Muslims by in Zaria, who were followers of Sheikh Al-Zakzaky.

Notable in Economic section of the magazine is an exclusive interview with Chris Cook, Director of Petro Scotland, on oil prices and the analysis given by Head of Iran Desk at Zaiwalla & Co. LLP Azadeh Meskarian’s on the conditions of investing in post-sanction Iran. This section also includes coverage of a number of important MoUs signed between Iran and other countries in the past month.

A report on the ninth edition of Iran’s International Documentary Film Festival ‘Cinéma Vérité’ opens the Culture section, followed by a detailed review of one of the documentaries screened at the event. Another report features the International Cheetah Day (December 5) and the remarks made by the UN resident coordinator in Iran Gary Lewis and Head of Department of Enviornment Masoumeh Ebtekar in this regard.  

The ‘Dossier’ section covers the first round of Mustafa Scientific Prize as a top science and technology award granted to the top researchers and scientists of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states biennially.
