The meeting, held between Iran’s Ali Tayebnia and Azerbaijan’s Shahin Mustafayev, was on the vision for economic cooperation including expanding bilateral banking, trade and transportation ties.
Referring to the emphasis of President Rouhani on expanding economic relations with the Republic of Azerbaijan, Tayebnia said that Iran is keen to speed up ties and the results of the ongoing negotiations should soon come into effect.
“In order to enhance trade relations, the transportation system should develop for which Iran is interested to join the railway system of Azerbaijan”, he added.
The Iranian minister said that presenting 24/7 customs service by both the countries is the first and most significant step for boosting trade relations. Expansion of bilateral trade ties will indeed have a positive effect on third countries including Russia and Georgia.
Tayebnia also urged acceleration of bilateral banking ties and said “Banking cooperation is noteworthy which were unfortunately limited due to the sanctions but now the grounds are paved for enhancing the ties considering the nuclear agreements.
Shahin Mustafayev, for his part, said that the visiting Azeri delegation includes more than 100 state officials as well as businessmen of the private sector. The negotiations have so far been positive.
He added that three trade conferences as well as 46 trips made by economic activists and officials, only in one and a half year, is a token of deep ties.
