TEHRAN, Dec. 15 (MNA) – A senior American analyst and investigative journalist has told Mehr News only Israel would seek to create new issues in form of intelligence work.

Mehr News English Service asked Gareth Porter about his assessment of the most recent adoption by the IAEA Board of Governors of a resolution proposed by the 5+1 and its impact on the overall implementation of the deal:

What will be the impact of the adoption of this resolution on the overall status of the JCPOA?

The resolution clears the way for the JCPOA to be implemented.  Iran had insisted on this as a condition for signing the agreement in July.

Iran has deeply been concerned with PMD of its nuclear program and has been waging efforts so that the Board closes the case once and for all. Would you think that it is really closed as Iran expected now with the adoption of the resolution, or it will be stifled by other cases raised by the world powers to drag the issue on further?

There won't be any further effort to raise historical issues. That part of the political drama surrounding the Iran nuclear program is finished. I would not rule out Israel trying to create a new issue in the form of some alleged intelligence discovery of secret Iranian nuclear work, but it would be very difficult for Israel to succeed in such an effort, because of the US interest in seeing the agreement fully implemented.
