TEHRAN, Nov. 13 (MNA) – Iranian boys and girls karate teams achieved 5 medals on the first two days of the 9th World Karate Championship WKF Junior, Cadet, & Under 21 held in Indonesia.

In the cadet kumite female -47kg, Sadeghi defeated her rival from Hungary 5-0 as well as the athlete from Slovakia 4-0.

The Iranian representative beat Austrian participant 4-1 and defeated Italian athlete 4-1 in the semi-final while in the final match, she lost to Japan’s Ugai Mizuki 5-0 and claimed a silver medal.

Seyed Ali Karimi failed to down the Saudi karateka and received the bronze medal of the competitions while he had previously pulled off victories against Bosnian, Russian and German athletes while he was defeated by the Egyptian karateka in the semi-finals.

Sarah Bahmanyar, the other Iranian representative managed to pocket a bronze medal after defeating the Slovakian rival.

Iran’s Ali Meskini in the -55kg weight category outpowered four rivals before conceding a defeat against the Mexican karateka and won the bronze medal of the tournament.

In -61kg weight category, the other Iranian athlete Amirreza Mirzaei subdued Italian and Danish fighters to face the French karateka where he finished 8-0 to win Iran’s fourth bronze medal.

So far, Iran has bagged 1 silver and 4 bronze medals at the tournamnet.

The championship is hosting 1441 athletes from 91 countries in Jakarta, Indonesia and will last till November 15.
