NEW YORK, Sep.23 (MNA) – Iranian FM Mohammad Javad Zarif said here on Tuesday that Iran expect a change in West’s behavior and pursues the trend of implementation of JCPOA at the United Nations.

Speaking with the reporters upon his arrival in New York on Tuesday afternoon local time, Zarif noted that the Iranian delegation will also follow up the formation of a joint commission between Iran and 5+1 during their visit to New York.

Zarif underlined that West and the countries engaged with Iran at the international level must make efforts to strengthen the implementation of the foundations of JCPOA through sincere performances and measures.

“Iranian people want to see the change in West’s behavior; many people’s distrust originates from the behavior of Western countries, using double standards and creating unreasonable barriers to the development of Iran,” Zarif noted.

Zarif, heading a ranking delegation, departed for New York early Tuesday to attend the first meeting of the Joint Commission with the members of the 5+1 and also the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

The Joint Commission is comprised of representatives of Iran, those of the world sextet (US, UK, Russia, China and France plus Germany) and the European Union (EU) Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini.

While in New York, Zarif will follow up the implementation process of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) reached on July 14 between Iran and 5+1.

The Iranian delegation includes Zarif and his deputy Abbas Araghchi as well as Head of the Iranian nuclear expert team Hamid Baeedinejad. Another Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi is to join the team later.

The Joint Commission is established to carry out the functions assigned to it in the JCPOA including its annexes and will hold meeting every three months or after request of each member to the Coordinator.
