Kyrgyzstan's President Almazbek Atambayev as well as his accompanying high ranking delegation have arrived in Tehran and aim to improve relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
President Atambayev is scheduled to meet President Rouhani and other Iranian officials during his three-day visit to Iran; the two sides will discuss ways for expansion of bilateral political, economic, and cultural cooperation and sign a number of memoranda of understanding (MOUs).
Construction of the infrastructure Iran-Afghanistan-Tajikistan-Kyrgyzstan-China railway will be another important issue to be discussed between the two presidents during Atambayev's visit. It has been estimated that the implementation of this project will expand regional cooperation among the involved countries.
President Rouhani had travelled to Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, in 2013 to attend Shanghai Cooperation Conference. Kyrgyzstan is one of the five Central Asian countries bordering with China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
