TEHRAN, Aug. 02 (MNA) – Iranian director Nima Javidi’s debut feature movie Melbourne was screened at London Iranian Film Festival, at the Greenwood Theatre, on August 01.

Melbourne has so far been screened at several international film festivals including 10th edition of Zurich international Film Festival, Silk Screen Asian American Film Festival, 27th Tokyo International Film Festival, IndieLisboa and Belgium International Film Festivals and Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF).

To date, the film has bagged two awards at the Stockholm International Film Festival, critical acclaim at the 71st Venice International Film Festival in Italy and Best Screenplay at the 8th Asia Pacific Screen Awards in Australia’s Brisbane on 11 December 2014.

Melbourne recounts the story of a young couple on their way to Melbourne to continue their studies. However, just a few hours before their departure flight, they are unintentionally involved in a tragic event.

London Iranian Film Festival is the first annual festival to present Iranian cinema in the UK.
