KHORASAN, Dec. 7 (MNA) – Saffron is derived from flowers commonly known as the saffron crocus. Iran is the main land for plantation of saffron all around the world. The English word, "saffron" originally comes from the Persian word za'ferân. Old Persian is the first language in which the use of saffron in cooking is recorded, with references dating back thousands of years ago.
