Tehran-Doha strong ties benefits regional security: Qatar PM

TEHRAN, May 2 (MNA) – Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hamad bin Jassem Aal-Thani has said that the expansion relations between Iran and Qatar will contribute to the regional stability and security.

Qatari prime minister made the remarks during a press conference on Monday in Doha after his meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi.

He also highlighted the “important and effective” role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in regional developments.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Jassem Aal-Thani called his meeting with Salehi “helpful and constructive.”

Salehi also underscored the importance of visits between the regional countries’ officials to explore ways to resolve issues facing the region.

On the ongoing developments in Bahrain, he said that foreign military intervention in Bahrain did not settle the crisis but aggravated the situation.

He added that the foreign forces should leave Bahrain and the crisis should be managed tactfully.

During his one-day visit to Qatar, the Iranian foreign minister also met Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani and Qatari Crown Prince Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad.

After his meetings with Qatari officials, Salehi told reporters, “During these meetings we talked about regional developments and bilateral relations.”

“Hopefully, we will see positive results (of the talks) in the near future,” he said.
