In his three-day stay in Tehran, Gul will hold talks with President Ahmadinejad and other high ranking officials.
Bilateral relations and regional and international issues will feature in talks between Gul and Iranian officials.
Iran seeks stronger ties with Turkey
Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has stated that Iran and Turkey should expand bilateral ties and establish a closer relationship.
Salehi made the remarks in a meeting with Turkish Minister of State Cevdet Yilmaz on Saturday who has traveled to Iran just ahead of the Turkish president’s visit to Tehran.
Iran has established close ties with Turkey, Salehi said.
He said Iran is ready to implement joint projects including construction of industrial sites and transfer of electricity with Turkey.
He also called for building necessary infrastructures for boosting economic and business cooperation between the two countries.
The Turkish minister said Iran is a brother country and close friend for Turkey.
There is lots of potential for enhancement of ties between Iran and Turkey which should be utilized for the benefit of the two countries, Yilmaz noted.
Yilmaz added that he has travelled to Tehran to make preparations for Turkish president’s travel.
