First VP congratulates Cuba on revolution anniversary

TEHRAN, Jan. 1 (MNA) -- Iranian First Vice President Mohammad-Reza Rahimi on Saturday sent a message to his Cuban counterpart Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, congratulating him on the 52nd anniversary of the Cuban Revolution.

The Cuban Revolution was a successful armed revolt by Fidel Castro's 26th of July Movement that overthrew the U.S.-backed Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista on January 1, 1959.

Following is the text of Rahimi’s message:

I sincerely congratulate you, the country’s government and nation on the 52nd anniversary of the Cuban Revolution.

The Cuban nation’s tireless and successful struggle to realize the message of justice has set an example for many supporters of freedom and justice in the world over the past several decades.

I am confident that in the light of common goals of the two nations of Iran and Cuba, the increasing relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Cuba will be promoted in all areas more than before.

I wish you health and success and wish fortune to the friendly government and nation of Cuba.
