Iran categorically rejects any temporary ceasefire: UN envoy

TEHRAN, Apr. 07 (MNA) – The Iranian ambassador to the United Nations has said that his country categorically rejects a proposal for a temporary ceasefire and seeks guarantees that the aggression will not be repeated.

The Head of the mission of of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations Saeed Iravani made the comments at the UN Security Council meeting on Tuesday which was held to discuss the Bahrain-drafted resolution regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
Iravani emphasized in his address to the meeting that any solution to end the conflict must guarantee a definitive and irreversible end to the aggression and establish a just and lasting peace that is based on credible and verifiable guarantees the repetition aggression.
The Iranian ambassador stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran categorically rejects a temporary ceasefire, especially in light of the experience of last June, when hostilities resumed under false pretexts. He added that a ceasefire of such only gives the aggressors more time to rearm and prepare for further crimes.
