Iran punishment of Israel increased national unity

TEHRAN, Apr. 29 (MNA) – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ali Bagheri Kani says that the country\s retaliatory attack on Israel increased national unity among Iranians.

We were faced with a decisive national consensus, and the initiative of punishing the Zionist regime actually strengthened national unity and promoted national empathy, the senior Iranian official said in his remarks at a conference on Sunday.

Hailing the wisdom of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution in guiding the country through military and security ups and downs during the past few decades, Bagheri Kani stressed that the important and strategic achievement of protecting national security, securing national interests, protecting territorial integrity and protecting national sovereignty is due to the hard and soft mechanisms that have been institutionalized in the country over the past years based on the guidance of the Leader.

The Israeli regime attacked Iran's consulate in the Syrian capital of Damascus on April 1. The Israeli aggression led to the destruction of the entire building and the martyrdom and injury of the entire people inside it.

Seven of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) military advisors were martyred following the Israeli attack on Iran's consulate in Damascus, IRGC said in a statement.

In response to the Israeli aggression, Iran attacked the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories with a barrage of drones and missiles early on Sunday.

Following the attack, Iran announced that it does not seek to create tension in the region and had carried out the anti-Zionist operation to punish the Zionist regime. However, the Iranian political and military officials have strongly warned that the country would give a severe response in case of any fresh Israeli aggression.
