Supporting Palestine Iran's principled, rooted policy : FM

TEHRAN, Mar. 06 (MNA) – Supporting Palestine is a principled and rooted policy in the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Iran considers Hamas a free-dom-seeking front that fights for the liberation of its land, the Iranian top diplomat says.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian met and held talks with Musa Timothy Kabba Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sierra Leone on the sidelines of the extraordinary meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on the situation in the Gaza Strip in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

During this meeting, Amir-Abdollahian called the relations between Iran and Sierra Leone friendly and said the cooperation between the two countries is growing in the political and commercial fields.

He emphasized the readiness of Iran to cooperate with Sierra Leone in the fields of energy, agriculture, technology, and other fields of interest.

Amir Abdollahian thanked Sierra Leone for its strong position regarding Palestine and he said that Sierra Leone is a non-permanent member of the Security Council and the country's role in both the Security Council and the African Union is to support Palestine and support the African initiative. South is important in the International Court of Justice.

"Supporting Palestine is a principled and rooted policy in the Islamic Republic of Iran, and we consider Hamas a free-dom-seeking front that fights for the liberation of its land from occupation," he added.

Condemning the US's efforts to label Hamas as terrorists, he described this movement as a manifestation of the will of the Palestinian nation to free their land from the occupation of the Israeli occupation regime.

Sierra Leonean foreign minister also added that the two countries enjoy long-term and stable relations and cooperation, and his country is interested in developing bilateral cooperation and deepening friendly relations with Iran, considering the importance of Iran's position and capabilities in various fields.
