NAM condemns Israeli regime’s continued aggression on Gaza

TEHRAN, Feb. 21 (MNA) – Iran's Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Zahra Ershadi has said, on behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), that the movement slams the Israeli regime’s continued aggression on Gaza.

Ershadi read out a statement on behalf of the NAM members on Tuesday local time at the meeting of the special committee of the United Nations Charter.

The NAM categorically denounced the Israeli regime's continued brutal military operation against the defenseless Palestinians, especially in the Gaza Strip, she noted.

The official underlined that the movement calls for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire and support for the Palestinian nation.

Ershadi said that the Movement is deeply concerned about the warnings of UN special rapporteurs about the flagrant genocide in the Gaza Strip.

The NAM calls on the international community to halt the genocide in the enclave and take all necessary measures to end the measure, she noted.

The Movement welcomes a request by South Africa on December 29, 2023, to bring a lawsuit against the Israeli regime at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) regarding the violation of the commitments under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, she added.

The NAM calls on the Israeli regime to implement a temporary agreement ordered by the ICJ, the official underscored.

The Zionist regime’s deadly war on Gaza has so far killed nearly 29,000 people.
