The attack happened at about 8:20 a.m. local time in Tank district of the province when the vehicle of the Frontier Corps was on patrol duty, the sources told Xinhua.
The militants managed to escape following the attack, and a search operation was underway in the area.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
The area was cordoned off for investigation.
