Iran, Syria foreign ministers discuss regional developments

TEHRAN, Dec. 20 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Syrian counterpart Faisal Mekdad discussed the latest regional developments.

The two Iranian and Syrian top diplomats held a phone conversation on Tuesday night to confer on the bilateral relations between Tehran and Damascus, as well as the regional issues, especially the war in the Gaza Strip.

Dubbing the recent visit of the Syrian prime minister to Tehran as constructive and fruitful, Amir-Abdollahian and Mekdad reviewed the growing trend of cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the fields of economy and trade.

They also discussed the developments in the Gaza Strip and stressed the need for dispatching humanitarian aid to the besieged enclave.

The Israeli regime has been waging against the Gaza Strip since October 7 in response to an operation staged by the territory's Resistance movements.

Close to 20,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, have died during the military campaign so far.

As the Israeli regime's most dedicated ally, the US has supplied it with more than 10,000 tons of military equipment since the onset of the aggression.
