The deputy minister of agriculture for horticultural affairs emphasized that, in addition to meeting the domestic demands, $6 billion worth of agricultural products are exported by Iran each year.
Speaking at a cultural ceremony in Mazandaran province on Saturday, Mohammad Mahdi Boroumandi said Iran has come out victorious in the face of the sanctions that have been imposed since the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
He said the enemies have waged a full-fledged war, especially an economic war, against Iran in order to paralyze the economy and jeopardize food security, but their malicious attempts have failed.
Highlighting the Ministry of Agriculture’s responsibility to guarantee food security in Iran, Boroumandi said the ministry has taken effective steps in this regard.
In remarks in May, the deputy minister said horticultural products account for half of the $6 billion in annual export of agricultural produce.
