Zarif due in Rome to attend 2018 Mediterranean Dialogues

TEHRAN, Nov. 21 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is slated to travel to Rome, the Italian capital, on Wednesday evening to attend the 4th edition of Mediterranean Dialogues.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi said Wednesday that Zarif will Leave Tehran for Rome to attend the high-level conference.

He will also meet and hold talks with officials of different countries on the sideline of the main event, as well as participating in various economic and cultural programs.

According to its official website, Mediterranean Dialogues (MED) is the annual high-level initiative promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and ISPI (Italian Institute for International Political Studies) in Rome. The event aims at drafting a “positive agenda” for the Mediterranean by stimulating debate and promoting new ideas, rethinking traditional approaches and addressing shared challenges at both the regional and the international level.

Zarif is one of the main speakers at the conference. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Iraqi President Barham Salih, and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg are among other key speakers of the event.
