'No preconditions' means no sanctions

TEHRAN Aug. 01 (MNA) – Iranian President’s Adviser Hesamodin Ashna addressed US President Donald Trump on Wed., reminding him that ‘no preconditions’ for meeting with President Rouhani means ‘no enforcement of illegal sanctions’ on Iran.

Iranian President’s Adviser Hesamodin Ashna reacted to US President Donald Trump’s call for a meeting with President Rouhani without any preconditions, voicing doubt that Trump and his Secretary of State Mike Pompeo could reach an agreement on the definition of “no preconditions”.

“'No preconditions' means 'No enforcement of illegal sanctions',” elaborated Ashna in a tweet on Wednesday. “Sanctions and dialogue are contradictory.”

Following Trump’s comment about his willingness to meet with Rouhani with ‘no preconditions’, Pompeo contradicted Trump, listing preconditions that had to be met first before such a meeting could take place.

In his most recent comments, Trump said he had a “feeling they’ll be talking to us pretty soon, and maybe not, but that’s OK, too.” He went on to describe the 2015 Iran nuclear deal a "horror show".

Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi said sanctions and pressure are at odds with US’ call for holding dialogue, which requires mutual respect and adherence to international obligations.
