“As it has been delineated by Dr. Zarif in his letter to Mr. Amano and Ms. Mogherini, the goals and results announced about Haley’s visit to Vienna are against the different articles of the JCPOA and UN resolution 2231 about the role of the IAEA and in contrast with the principle of the independence and credibility of the Agency in terms of protecting the sensitive information about Iran’s nuclear sites,” reads the statement issued by Iran's permanent mission to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Thursday.
Iran’s mission to Vienna issued the communiqué one day after US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley met IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano in the Austrian capital city of Vienna. The statement warns against the destructive consequences of such illegal pressures on the Agency.
The statement reiterates that the Islamic Republic of Iran is fully aware of and in full compliance with its duties and responsibilities outlined in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), the Additional Protocol and the JCPOA, and would never allow these regulations be abused to fulfill the political intentions of a specific country. It also says that meanwhile it is necessary for keeping the nuclear agreement alive that all the sides of the deal be committed to their promises laid down in the agreement.
The communiqué describes the US claims that the credibility of IAEA’s report are to the extent that the IAEA’s inspectors are given access by Iran as a strange claim and outright false word which undermines the whole credibility of the Agency and its reports in regards not only to Iran but also the whole other countries. According to the statement such claims mean that the IAEA and its reports are untrustworthy and are made merely because of the inexperience and negligence of the new American political team.
